The authors (Christina, right, and Susan) signing copies of their book at their Book Launch Event. _________________________________________________________________ She presently serves as the Director of Advocacy and Transition Services at the Yellin Center for Student Success, founded by her husband, pediatrician Dr. Paul Yellin, which provides multi-disciplinary evaluations of students who struggle with learning.Mrs. Yellin is a graduate of Cornell University and the Boston University School of Law and has been a practicing New York attorney for more than 25 years. She and her husband are also the parents of three sons, the youngest of who has complex learning and medical issues. It was the difficulties she and her husband encountered with their own child that led her to leave her job at a law firm and concentrate her efforts on helping other families find information and resources for children with special learning needs. She has experienced the college admissions process with all three of her sons. Christina Cacioppo Bertsch, MA is the former Director of Disability Services for Fordham University in New York and the founder of CCB Educational Consulting Corp. where she works as a college counselor to students with a wide range of disabilities. Christina has experienced the impact of a disability in a college setting first-hand, watching her younger sister struggle with a disability and ultimately leave college without a degree.In her private practice, Christina helps to identify supportive college settings and assists students with standardized test and post-secondary accommodations, applications, interview preparation, and self-advocacy training. She has offered transition workshops to over thirty school districts and has been a featured speaker for numerous non-profit organizations. Christina received her graduate and undergraduate degrees from Boston College. She and her husband, a high school administrator and supervisor of guidance, have two daughters. |
